Turkey carries out wide‑scale road closures and transport‑infrastructure upgrades
The General Directorate of Highways (KGM) announced temporary closures on several major routes, including the TEM motorway (km 0‑13), the North Marmara Motorway at Akyazı, and sections of the İzmir Ring Road, to allow surface‑renewal and bridge‑repair work.
Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality is cleaning and maintaining 269 traffic‑signal intersections. The summer‑season programme, run by three crews, aims to keep the signal systems functional and safe through regular washing and component checks.
Bursa Metropolitan Municipality’s public‑transport subsidiary, BURULAŞ, performed in‑house overhauls of buses – revising 50 engines, 47 gearboxes, 27 differentials and about 300 electrical and brake units – saving the city more than 24 million Turkish lira in external procurement costs.
