Kocaeli Municipality completes major road upgrades in İzmit

Kocaeli Büyükşehir Belediyesi finished construction of a new 2.7‑kilometre heavy‑vehicle corridor in the Akmeşe neighbourhood of İzmit. The Nizamoğlu İsmail Caddesi was reinforced with a 10,500‑ton base, 6,350 ton bituminous foundation and 4,700 ton binder asphalt, providing an alternative to the previously congested Menderes Caddesi for trucks and trailers.

In a separate project, the municipality repainted approximately 9 kilometres of road lines on Oramiral Salim Dervişoğlu and Demiryolu Caddesi using high‑durability thermoplastic paint (1 mm and 1.5 mm thick). The reflective coating improves night visibility and overall traffic safety for drivers and pedestrians.
