Kocaeli municipality launches smart road‑maintenance equipment and asphalt upgrades

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality's Road and Maintenance Directorate has equipped its A‑Team staff with new multipurpose vehicles and smart attachments designed for year‑round, 24‑hour operation on both urban and rural roads. The equipment includes a barrier‑under grass‑cutting device, a brush for weed removal, roadside cleaning tools and an integrated washing system. Personnel completed a one‑week intensive training covering installation, removal, usage techniques under various field conditions and scenario drills; certificates were awarded by director Hakan Kocatürk and the equipment supplier.

At the same time, the municipality is carrying out staged asphalt renewal on a 2,300‑metre section of Gölcük Adnan Menderes Avenue. Works involve trench excavation, PMT (prime‑mix thin‑layer) application and placement of bituminous base layers to strengthen the road structure. The project aims to improve driving comfort, safety and traffic flow, with crews operating continuously to minimise disruption.
