Kocaeli's Blue Flag Beaches Earn Full Scores for 2026 Season

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality's nine public beaches received perfect marks in the pre‑season inspections for the 2026 summer. The audits, carried out by the Blue Flag Program National Coordination Office, examined Altınkemer and Ereğli Kumyalı on the İzmit Bay as well as Kerpe, Cebeci, Kumcağız, Kovanağzı, Bağırganlı, Seyrek and Miço Koyu women's beaches in the Kandıra district.

Inspectors from the Turkey Environmental Education Foundation (TÜRÇEV), Kocaeli fire services and municipal environmental and park departments assessed 33 criteria covering water quality, environmental management, safety equipment, lifeguard services, accessibility for people with disabilities and cleanliness. All criteria met international standards, and the beaches were awarded a full score, confirming they meet the Blue Flag program’s stringent requirements for health, safety and environmental protection.
