Kocaeli's Körfez Aqua Aquarium Attracts Over 15,000 Visitors on Opening Day

The Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality opened the Körfez Aqua Kıtalar Akvaryumu in İzmit Millet Bahçesi on 20‑21 April. Free admission was offered, and the facility welcomed 15 150 visitors on its first day, with lines forming early in the morning. The aquarium showcases underwater ecosystems from multiple continents and includes educational displays.

Mayor Tahir Büyükakın toured the aquarium with children a few hours after opening, noting that more than 2 000 people visited within the first two hours. Afterward he joined a carnival event at the same park, interacting with families and encouraging attendance.

The aquarium is promoted as a new tourism and educational attraction for Kocaeli and surrounding regions.
