Škoda JS begins testing for Westinghouse nuclear reactor components

Škoda JS, a member of the ČEZ Group, has commenced preparatory work to manufacture components for the Westinghouse AP1000 reactor. The project involves producing reactor internals and pressure vessel covers to verify the Czech company's manufacturing capabilities.

The two-year preparatory phase aims to align production technologies in Plzeň with ASME standards. Following the acquisition of ASME Section III certification earlier this year, Škoda JS became the first manufacturing firm in Central or Eastern Europe to hold these credentials, which are essential for producing primary circuit components for nuclear power plants.

Successful completion of this phase could integrate Škoda JS into Westinghouse's international supply chain for AP1000 projects in Europe and globally. Company leadership expressed ambitions to expand into the United States market, noting the planned construction of 10 new nuclear blocks there.
