Škoda Peaq electric SUV selected as Tour de France director’s car for 2026
Škoda Auto’s newly unveiled electric SUV, the Škoda Peaq 90x Sportline, has been adapted as the official director’s car for the Tour de France starting in 2026. The red vehicle received six roof‑mounted antennas, a portable communication centre with its own battery, a modified panoramic roof that opens outward, and interior changes that reduce seating from seven to four to accommodate the race director and special equipment. Weight increased by about 150 kg and the onboard system can operate for two‑three days before recharging.
The Tour de France, the world’s most prominent cycling race, also continues to celebrate its historic figures, from Eddy Merckx and Miguel Indurain to recent champions, underscoring the event’s blend of modern technology and rich heritage.
