Poland observes religious festivities for the Assumption of Mary

Various religious observances and ceremonies took place across Poland centered on the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

In Kodno, thousands of pilgrims gathered for two days of festivities at the Calvary, featuring a mission mass led by Archbishop Stanisław Budzik. The events included processions and prayers focused on Mary as a model of faith. Similarly, in Lutynia, annual indulgence ceremonies concluded with a solemn mass and a traditional procession of the miraculous image of Our Lady of Lutynia.

Other notable events included the elevation of the Church of the Assumption in Bytom to the status of a Marian sanctuary, a move recognizing its nearly 800-year history and local devotion. In Płock, Bishop Mirosław Milewski led celebrations that addressed themes of peace and national identity.

In the local clergy, two sisters from the Congregation of the Sisters of the Service of Debica made their perpetual vows in Dębica, while the community in Piła bid farewell to long-serving priest Stanisław Oracz. Additionally, the Redemptorist community mourned the passing of Father Janusz Dyrek, a well-known figure in religious media.
