President Mahama concludes Resetting Ghana Tour of Ahafo Region
President John Dramani Mahama has concluded a two-day Resetting Ghana Tour of the Ahafo Region, focusing on infrastructure, healthcare, and agricultural development. During the tour, the President inspected several key projects, including the Tepa-Maban-Goaso road, which is being executed by local contractor Kofi Job Construction Limited under the Big Push Agenda.
In the agricultural sector, Mahama highlighted the Feed Ghana Programme, which aims to establish 50 Farmers Services Centres nationwide to provide mechanization services. He also inspected a solar-powered irrigation system in Dantano and a poultry, meat, and feed processing plant in Bechem. The Bechem facility, currently 50 percent complete, is intended to establish the area as the ‘chicken capital of Ghana’ by 2027.
Regarding healthcare, the President reviewed nearly completed Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds and discussed the Free Primary Healthcare programme. Additionally, the President committed to ensuring the Ahafo Region receives its fair share of national development, including the rehabilitation of roads in all 16 regional capitals.
While the tour emphasized development, recent polling data from the Ashanti Region shows mixed approval ratings for the President, with negative net approval in several constituencies, highlighting political challenges ahead of the 2028 elections.
