Kogi State prepares state burial for former Governor Ibrahim Idris
Following the death of former Kogi State Governor Ibrahim Idris, who served from 2003 to 2012, political leaders and state officials have begun mourning and organizing funeral arrangements.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, visited the bereaved family to offer condolences. She described the passing of the former governor as a profound loss to his family, the Peoples Democratic Party, and Nigeria. She urged the people of Kogi State to reflect on the importance of public service and leadership in light of his passing.
Meanwhile, the family of the late governor, led by Alhaji Haruna Idris, expressed gratitude to the Kogi State Government for its support. Governor Usman Ododo has constituted a burial committee, chaired by Deputy Governor Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo, to oversee the proceedings. The state government has committed to providing a befitting state burial for the former leader, whom officials described as a respected colossus of the state.
