Košice Airport hits record 150,000 passengers in July
Košice Airport has reached a historic milestone, processing more than 150,000 passengers in the month of July for the first time since it began operations. In the first seven months of this year, the airport handled over 616,000 passengers, marking a year-on-year increase of more than 35 percent.
This growth is largely driven by regular flight connections, which saw a 55 percent increase in passenger numbers compared to the previous year. The airport's current summer schedule is the most extensive in its history, featuring 12 regular lines. Popular destinations include Bratislava, Prague, and Vienna, while high demand for holiday destinations has focused on Antalya, Hurghada, and Larnaca.
Newer routes to Malaga and Rome have also seen significant interest. Due to the popularity of the Rome connection, Wizz Air has announced an increase in capacity, adding a Thursday rotation to the existing Tuesday and Saturday flights, resulting in three weekly connections.
