Koikeya to launch scallop butter potato chips supporting Jomon heritage

Koikeya is launching its second product in the ‘Koikeya Pride Potato 100%’ series, titled ‘Scallop Butter (Jomon)’. The snack features scallops from Aomori Prefecture and butter from Hokkaido, accented with savory soy sauce.

The product will see a pre-release in convenience stores nationwide on September 21, 2026, followed by a general release in supermarkets and other channels on October 12, 2026. The packaging will feature two designs: one depicting the ‘Shakoki Dogu’ from Aomori and another showing the ‘Chukyu Dogu’ from Hokkaido.

As part of a cultural preservation initiative, Koikeya will donate 1 yen for every bag sold to support the Jomon Prehistoric Sites in Northern Japan, a UNESCO World Heritage site spanning Hokkaido, Aomori, Iwate, and Akita prefectures.
