Komotini: Man hospitalized under guard after killing wife

A 53-year-old Albanian national is being held under police guard at the Sismanogleio General Hospital in Komotini after allegedly killing his 44-year-old wife in their home in Dialambi, Rodopi.

According to preliminary reports, the man fatally stabbed his wife before attempting self-harm with a knife and ingesting a liquid, believed to be petroleum. The couple's 16-year-old daughter alerted the authorities. The man has regained consciousness and is being treated in the surgical clinic without serious injuries from his self-inflicted wounds.

Police seized two knives at the crime scene. The suspect faces charges of premeditated murder, domestic violence, and weapons law violations. Records indicate he had previously been arrested in 2022 in Heraklion, Crete, for making domestic threats against the same victim.
