Konak Mayor Nilüfer Mutlu Announces Signage Rules and New Taziye House
At the July regular council meeting of Konak Municipality, Mayor Nilüfer Çınarlı Mutlu presented a draft ordinance to regulate signage and tents in the Alsancak district. The measure aims to improve urban aesthetics, control visual pollution and ensure pedestrian accessibility, with merchants to receive formal notifications and required to comply with specified color and placement standards.
The council also approved a protocol to transfer a 125.25 m² property owned by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, currently used as the Alsancak Police Station, to the Konak municipality free of charge for ten years.
In a separate community event, Mayor Mutlu attended the foundation ceremony for the Beştepeler Taziye House, a 130 m² mourning facility to be built beside the Beştepeler Social Center. The building is intended to provide a dedicated space for funeral and condolence gatherings, strengthening social solidarity in the Kadriye neighbourhood.
