Konawe District Attorney arrested for alleged abuse of power

The Konawe District Attorney, Fachrizal, was arrested by the Southeast Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati Sultra) on Monday, October 5, 2026. The arrest follows allegations of abuse of power, misconduct, and violations of the prosecutor's code of ethics.

Following an intensive examination in Southeast Sulawesi, Fachrizal was transferred to the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) in Jakarta for further investigation and handling. Sugeng Riyanta, Head of the Southeast Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office, stated that the action was prompted by public reports regarding the official's alleged misconduct.

While the specific details of the legal case have not yet been fully disclosed, internal sanctions will be determined based on the severity of the findings. Hijran Syafar has been appointed as the Acting District Attorney (Plh) for Konawe to ensure that public services continue while the Attorney General's Office decides on a permanent replacement.
