Konawe District Attorney misconduct investigation

Fachrizal, the Head of the Konawe District Attorney's Office, was arrested following allegations of abuse of power, misconduct, and violations of the prosecutor's code of ethics. The arrest was initiated by the Southeast Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office after receiving public reports regarding the official's alleged misconduct.

Following his arrest, Fachrizal was transferred to the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) in Jakarta for further investigation. To maintain public services during the legal proceedings, Hijran Syafar was appointed as the Acting District Attorney for Konawe.

Legislative figures, including Ahmad Sahroni, Vice Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, have commended the Attorney General's Office for its decisive internal oversight. Sahroni noted that proactive enforcement against misconduct is essential for maintaining institutional integrity and aligns with the legal certainty goals promoted by President Prabowo.

Recent developments indicate that the investigation is specifically linked to the handling of nickel mining cases and allegations of seeking personal gain. Anang Supriatna, Head of the Attorney General's Office Legal Information Center, confirmed that Fachrizal was detained by the Reform and Innovation Intelligence Task Force (SIRI) to deepen the investigation. While specific details of the reports remain undisclosed, officials stated that if ethical violations are proven, the matter will be referred to the supervision division. Authorities are currently maintaining the presumption of innocence as the investigation remains in the examination stage.
