Kongju National University selected for 21.6 billion KRW mobility research project

Kongju National University has been selected for the 2026 Glocal Lab (Consortium Type) science and engineering academic research support project, hosted by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Research Foundation. As the sole selection from the Chungcheong, Daejeon, and Sejong regions, the project will be implemented over nine years from September 2026 to August 2035 with a total budget of 21.6 billion KRW.

Leading the consortium is Kongju National University, in partnership with Hanbat National University and KAIST. The initiative will center on the Global Institute of Manufacturing Technology to conduct convergence research in eco-friendly mobility and cultivate advanced research personnel. The research framework aims to combine Kongju National University’s expertise in production and design, Hanbat National University’s focus on materials and components, and KAIST’s capabilities in intelligence, control, and vehicle verification.

The project seeks to develop core technologies to maximize the driving range of eco-friendly mobility and establish a global R&D platform. To strengthen international competitiveness, the consortium plans to expand joint research and exchange programs with global institutions, including the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, the University of Michigan, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and the University of Bologna.
