Kongju National University research and collaboration

Overview

Kongju National University has secured significant funding and expanded its international research footprint through various academic initiatives.

In late September 2026, the university was selected for the 2026 Glocal Lab science and engineering academic research support project. This nine-year initiative, running from September 2026 to August 2035 with a budget of 21.6 billion KRW, involves a consortium with Hanbat National University and KAIST. The project focuses on establishing a Global Institute of Manufacturing Technology to conduct convergence research in eco-friendly mobility and develop core technologies to maximize driving range.

Concurrently, the university reported progress in its ‘Global Joint Research Lab Establishment Support Project’. Within eight months of its launch, the project has facilitated 15 research labs focusing on sectors such as bio-medicine, semiconductors, and future mobility. These efforts have resulted in seven international joint papers and 21 joint academic conferences involving institutions such as Harvard University, the University of Tokyo, and Nanyang Technological University. The university has also established a joint doctoral degree agreement with the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and secured follow-up R&D funding through collaborations with Virginia Tech.
