Kongsberg Gruppen to build counter-drone factory in Poland
Kongsberg Gruppen is investing over 200 million PLN (approximately 480 million NOK or 45 million EUR) to establish a new production and maintenance facility in Poland. Located in the Pomeranian region near the Gdańsk–Gdynia–Sopot metropolitan area, the plant will focus on counter-unmanned aerial systems (CUAS) to detect and combat drone threats.
The facility is intended to support Poland’s SAN programme and will serve as an integrated part of Kongsberg’s global manufacturing network, catering to both Polish and future European customers. Once fully operational, the plant is expected to create more than 100 jobs. Serial production is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2028.
Kongsberg plans to sign a construction contract by the end of the year, with building activities starting immediately afterward. This move follows a contract signed earlier this year between Kongsberg, its partner Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ), and the Polish Armaments Agency to provide counter-drone systems for national defense.
