KONI West Sumatra requests Porprov 2026 delay over budget issues

Fourteen regional branches of the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) in West Sumatra have requested a postponement of the 2026 Provincial Sports Week (Porprov). The request stems from delays in local budget approvals, specifically the regional budget amendments (APBD Perubahan), which are necessary to fund athlete preparation, equipment, uniforms, and logistics.

Asmadi, Chairman of KONI Padang Pariaman and a representative of the West Sumatra KONI Forum, stated that while they support the event, they want to avoid any region being unable to participate due to funding constraints. He noted that without these funds, local committees cannot adequately prepare their contingents and expressed concerns regarding legal compliance if funds are used without proper budget authorization.
