Water contamination alerts issued across multiple Polish regions

Multiple regions in Poland are facing water contamination crises following reports of bacterial presence in local supply systems.

In the Konin district, the State Sanitary Inspection identified intestinal enterococci in the Rychwał municipality. This has led to a ban on using water for drinking, food preparation, washing dishes, teeth brushing, and bathing in several villages, including Jaroszewice Rychwalskie and Grabowa. The Mayor of Rychwał has convened a crisis staff, and water is being distributed via tankers to affected residents.

In the Jarocin area, sanitary services issued an urgent warning regarding the Wyszki supply zone in the Kotlin municipality. Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of coliform bacteria and fecal enterococci, exceeding the required zero-limit standard. Residents are prohibited from using the water for consumption, food production, or personal hygiene.

Additionally, in the Rawicz district, the Rogożewo supply zone has been declared unfit for consumption due to fecal enterococci. Residents in the Jutrosin and Miejska Górka municipalities are advised that water may only be used for sanitary purposes, such as flushing toilets, unless boiled for at least two minutes. Water providers are currently using sodium hypochlorite as a disinfectant to address the issue.
