Konitsa Fire Service rescues seven hikers from Stomios Monastery
The Konitsa Fire Service conducted a rescue operation to safely transport seven women, aged 54 to 77, from the Stomios Monastery in Greece. The hikers experienced severe exhaustion and physical distress during their trek, making it unsafe for them to complete the return journey on their own.
Firefighters reached the group and transported them from the monastery to the entrance of the mountain path. Upon arrival, medical personnel from the Konitsa Health Center provided first aid and conducted precautionary health checks. No serious medical issues were reported following the intervention.
The mountain path, which requires good physical condition due to its rugged terrain, had recently reopened following its closure during a fire in the Trapezitsa area.
