Hiking rescues in Greece

Overview

Emergency services in Greece have conducted multiple rescue operations for hikers in mountainous regions.

In late September, the Konitsa Fire Service rescued seven women, aged 54 to 77, from the Stomios Monastery after they experienced severe exhaustion and physical distress. The group was transported to the entrance of a mountain path that had recently reopened following a fire in the Trapezitsa area.

In late October, firefighters in Thessaloniki rescued a 40-year-old mother and her 15-year-old daughter in the Krya Vrysi area. The pair became disoriented due to heavy fog and contacted emergency services for assistance.
