Archaeologists excavating the Huaca Pucllana site in Lima, Peru, have discovered the skeletal remains of an adult, believed to be a man, dating back approximately 1,400 years. The discovery, linked to the Lima culture (which flourished between the 1st and 7th centuries), suggests the individual was placed as a ritual offering during a ceremony to close an underground canal connected to a ceremonial well.

The remains were found in a specific orientation: lying on the left side along the north-south axis of the canal, with the skull facing west toward the pyramid and the Pacific Ocean. Researchers noted that the ceremonial well was uniquely constructed with river stones, differing from the typical small adobe bricks used in other parts of the complex.

Lead archaeologist Gladys Paz stated that the find will help researchers reconstruct ancient ceremonies and better understand the ritual practices of the Lima culture. Physical anthropology studies are planned to confirm the individual's exact age, sex, and health status.
