Konya Bicycle Festival opens in 2026 European Capital of Cycling

The Konya Bicycle Festival has launched at the Kalehan Ecdat Garden, celebrating Konya's status as the 2026 European Capital of Cycling. The event features workshops, bicycle experience areas, acrobatics, and drone shows.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay emphasized that the city is working toward creating an environment where all citizens, including women and children, can cycle safely. He noted that Konya currently possesses 680 kilometers of bicycle paths, the longest in Turkey.

Local officials, including Selçuklu Mayor Ahmet Pekyatırmacı and Meram Mayor Mustafa Kavuş, highlighted the festival as a means to preserve the region's deep-rooted cycling culture and promote eco-friendly transportation. The festival is scheduled to continue until August 9th.
