Konya breaks ground on new educational and social complex in Akademi

The Konya Metropolitan Municipality has officially broken ground on a major educational and social complex in the Akademi neighborhood of the Selçuklu district. The new project includes the Bilgehane and the Lise Medeniyet Akademisi (LİMA), alongside social facilities designed to serve the rapidly growing population of the Ardıçlı TOKİ housing area.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, Selçuklu Mayor Ahmet Pekyatırmacı, Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca, and AK Party Konya Deputy Mustafa Hakan Özer. Officials noted that the Akademi neighborhood is one of Konya’s fastest-growing areas, with the current population of approximately 20,000 expected to reach nearly 40,000 following the delivery of new housing units next year.

Mayor Pekyatırmacı emphasized that the municipality has been working to meet the needs of the region since the initial construction of the TOKİ houses, having previously established health centers, emergency services, and community spaces. The new academy and social facilities aim to support the personal development and education of the local youth.
