Konya to Host Drone Pilot Training for Journalists

The Presidential Communication Presidency’s Konya Regional Directorate, in partnership with KTO Karatay University, is organizing a second‑edition "İHA‑1 Commercial Pilot Training and Certification Program" for media professionals. The 32‑hour course runs from 3 – 6 August at the university’s Continuing Education Center and includes theoretical lessons on air law, meteorology, flight dynamics, avionics and maintenance, followed by simulator work and on‑site flight exercises.

The program is approved by the Turkish General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM). Participants who pass the final exam receive an SHGM‑ and university‑endorsed İHA‑1 commercial pilot certificate and a radio‑communication permit, both recognized for lifetime validity in all 193 ICAO member states. The training aims to enable journalists to operate drones safely, legally and efficiently, improving reporting from hazardous or hard‑to‑reach locations.
