Turkey faces multiple natural disasters including floods and fires

Turkey is experiencing a series of natural disasters, including severe flooding, forest fires, and extreme weather conditions across several provinces.

In Giresun, heavy rainfall resulting in up to 200 kilograms of precipitation per square meter has caused significant flooding and landslides. The damage is estimated at over 2.2 million TL, affecting 12 houses and 4 workplaces. AFAD teams have been deployed to rescue stranded citizens and clear blocked roads.

In Antalya's Kaş district, a forest fire has been brought under control after damaging approximately 800 decares of agricultural land and 25 structures, including 8 homes. Officials are working to assess the damage to support local producers.

Other regions are also facing challenges: heavy rains have caused rivers to rise in Ordu and Rize, leading to water accumulation on streets and blocked drainage systems. In Çanakkale, a forest fire in the Bayramiç district is being fought by air and ground teams due to high winds. Additionally, in Muğla, municipal teams are conducting large-scale coastal cleanups in inaccessible bays, having collected 306 tons of waste since 2015 to protect the marine ecosystem.
