Koprivnica enhances urban green network and restores historic building
Koprivnica has completed a pilot project focused on developing urban green infrastructure and circular spatial management. The initiative has enhanced the city's green network by connecting eco-gardens in Špoljarska Street and Matije Gupca Street with green spaces near the historic center.
As part of the project, 211 new trees, 1,370 perennials, and 218 shrubs were planted. Urban improvements include the installation of insect hotels, benches, a children's playground, and a new irrigation system. Additionally, rain gardens were established at Muzejni trg to improve water management.
The project also involved the circular renovation of a historic 18th-century building at Đure Estera 19. This structure will be repurposed for public and social use, housing the Fra Fortunat Pintarić Interpretation Centre for cultural heritage, an educational hall, and offices for the Museum of the City of Koprivnica. The project, valued at over 1.1 million euros, was supported by 1 million euros from the European Union through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
