Koprivnica urban development and green infrastructure

Overview

Koprivnica is implementing various urban development and infrastructure projects aimed at expansion and environmental enhancement.

Initial efforts focused on a new road project designed to facilitate urban growth south of the Koprivnica stream. The project involves constructing an 850-meter road in two phases, including pedestrian and bicycle paths, with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition determining that no environmental impact assessment was required.

Subsequent developments have emphasized green infrastructure and circular spatial management. A completed pilot project enhanced the city’s green network by connecting eco-gardens with spaces near the historic center through the planting of hundreds of trees, perennials, and shrubs. This initiative also included the installation of rain gardens and the circular renovation of an 18th-century building at Đure Estera 19, which will serve as a cultural heritage and museum center. This latter project was supported by 1 million euros from the European Union.
