Korean Air to invest 150 billion KRW in Yeongjong aviation MRO cluster
Six organizations, including Incheon Metropolitan City, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, and Korean Air, have signed an agreement to develop an aviation Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) cluster in Yeongjong, Incheon.
Korean Air will invest approximately 150 billion KRW to construct engine and component maintenance facilities covering an area of roughly 30,000 pyeong. Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2029, with a target completion date of December 2031. The project aims to expand annual engine maintenance capacity from the current 88 units to approximately 502 units.
The cluster is expected to create significant economic impact, including the residency of over 2,000 specialized professionals. The partnership involves various roles: LH and iH will manage land supply and site regularization, while Incheon City and the Free Economic Zone Authority will oversee administrative permits and coordination.
