Korean Intellectual Property Office hosts public technology commercialization roadshow

The Korean Intellectual Property Office, in collaboration with 11 government ministries including the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, is hosting the ‘2026 Inter-ministerial Public Technology Transfer and Commercialization Roadshow’. The event aims to connect high-quality public technologies generated through government R&D investment with industrial demand to facilitate actual technology transfers and commercialization.

The roadshow features 2,132 selected public technologies. Activities include 1:1 technical consultation sessions between suppliers and demand-side companies, as well as integrated briefings on commercialization support programs provided by participating ministries such as the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

Additionally, the event will recognize 12 institutions as ‘Excellent Intellectual Property Management Institutions’ based on their commercialization capabilities. These institutions, which include various universities and research institutes, will receive intellectual property points for up to three years to reduce costs associated with patent filing and management. Kim Yong-sun, Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office, stated that the goal is to ensure national R&D achievements serve as a driver for innovative growth by transitioning technologies from research labs into market-traded assets.
