Burkina Faso launches food fortification and storage unit in Korsimoro
In Burkina Faso, Minister of State Ismaël Sombié is conducting a tour to monitor the 2026-2027 agropastoral campaign. In Korsimoro, the government inaugurated the ‘Paaspanga’ unit, a semi-industrial facility managed by SONAGESS. This unit is designed to produce fortified foods, such as flours and cereal bars, and features four cold rooms with a total capacity of 200 tonnes to reduce post-harvest losses for vegetable producers.
The Minister also visited the resettled village of Forgui in the Koulsé region, where 330 farmers are utilizing community-based irrigation to maintain rice production despite localized droughts. Additionally, inspections were carried out at an agro-pastoral farm in Sandbontenga and rice perimeters in the Bam province to assess food sovereignty efforts.
In other regional developments, CEMAC experts met in Libreville to establish a community energy information system to harmonize data across Central Africa. In Côte d'Ivoire, Fodjo Kadjo Abo was appointed President of the High Council of the Judiciary, and officials called for the pooling of African high-performance computing resources to enhance scientific autonomy.
