Korčula mural dedicated to Jean-Michel Nicolier vandalized

War veterans in Croatia have issued a formal protest following the vandalism of a mural dedicated to Jean-Michel Nicolier, a defender of Vukovar, on the island of Korčula. The perpetrators defaced the artwork, which included HOS symbols and the phrase ‘Za dom spremni’.

Veterans' associations have submitted complaints to state institutions, accusing vandals of attempting to disparage the Homeland War and its values. They linked the incident in Korčula to similar acts of vandalism in Zagreb, where military insignia and brigade markings were recently destroyed.

The groups also criticized a recent forum held in Korčula, describing it as containing aggressive content that attacks Croatian cultural and religious values. They expressed concern over what they describe as a systematic effort to undermine the country's foundations through ideological provocation.
