Korydallos Metro station master assaulted in Greece
On August 21, 2026, a station master at the Korydallos Metro station in Greece was assaulted by a passenger. The incident reportedly began after a female passenger reported sexual harassment by the individual, who then moved through the network before returning to attack the station master.
The Hellenic Police responded to the incident under the ‘Ariadne Plan,’ an operational security framework for Attica's mass transit. Police stated that officers arrived promptly and, despite being attacked by the perpetrator during the intervention, successfully apprehended and arrested him. The suspect faces charges for violence against officials and disobedience.
In response to the attack, the STASY Union of Station Masters and First Line Workers has called for a permanent and substantial police presence at all stations and a complete re-evaluation of security protocols. The union criticized the current security measures as inadequate, citing a gap in protection for both staff and passengers.
