Kosovo business registrations drop 36.2% in August

New business registrations in Kosovo saw a significant decline in August 2026, reaching a year-to-date low of 1,010 new enterprises. According to data from the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (ASK), this represents a 36.2 percent drop compared to July 2026, when 1,583 enterprises were registered.

Compared to August 2025, the number of new registrations decreased by 5.4 percent. The data indicates that the vast majority of these new businesses are micro-enterprises; 99.3 percent of the 1,010 new registrations consist of entities with between zero and nine employees.

Following a peak in July, registration numbers have trended downward through the summer months. August marks the lowest monthly registration level recorded in the first eight months of 2026.
