Kosovo Customs seizes undeclared goods at border crossings
Kosovo Customs officials have intercepted undeclared goods at two separate border crossing points, Vërmicë and Han i Elezit.
At the Vërmicë border point, customs officers identified a discrepancy between the declared weight and the actual weight of a truck during the clearance process. A detailed inspection revealed 1,036 pairs of shoes and 2,980 pieces of clothing, most of which bore protected trademarks. The total value of the seized goods is estimated at approximately 72,600 euros, excluding import duties.
In a separate incident at the Han i Elezit crossing, officials discovered undeclared vehicle components during the inspection of several trucks. Specifically, sliding step systems for vehicle cabins were found that had not been included in the official documentation. The value of these items is estimated at roughly 27,000 euros.
In both cases, authorities have initiated administrative procedures and notified the relevant competent bodies. Kosovo Customs reiterated that accurate declaration of goods is a legal obligation and that failure to comply can result in legal measures and the payment of import duties.
