Kosovo secures 41 million euros for healthcare modernization
Kosovo has secured 41 million euros in financing to modernize its public healthcare infrastructure. The agreement, signed by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health, involves the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB), with each contributing 20.5 million euros. The investment will provide advanced medical equipment, including CT scanners, ultrasound machines, and operating room technology, to the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (QKUK) and six regional hospitals in Prizren, Peja, Gjakova, and Gjilan. The project aims to improve diagnostic and treatment capabilities for approximately 1.6 million citizens.
In separate developments, the Kosovo government has moved forward with social security agreements with Austria and Turkey to protect the rights of citizens working in both countries. Additionally, the Central Bank of Kosovo (BQK) held high-level discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) regarding financial stability, strategic reforms, and the continued implementation of the BQK Strategic Plan 2024–2028. The discussions emphasized the stability of the banking sector and the importance of risk-based supervision.
