Education Ministry approves textbook subsidies for 2026/27 school year

The Ministry of Education and Science has approved the official textbook catalog for the 2026/27 school year and initiated the execution of subsidies for parents. Subsidies range from 60 euros for grades 1 and 2 to 100 euros for grades 8 and 9.

However, the process has faced significant criticism from political figures and the United Union of Education, Science and Culture (SBASHK). Critics, including LDK deputies and SBASHK Chairman Rrahman Jasharaj, have highlighted delays in the distribution process and the late approval of the catalog, warning that students may start the school year without necessary materials.

In response to price discrepancies, the publishing house Dukagjini announced it will refund the difference to customers who purchased textbooks at higher prices before the Ministry's new price list was finalized. The Ministry has also deployed the Education Inspectorate to monitor sales points and ensure compliance with the official catalog prices.
