Kosovo advances trade, energy, and regional economic integration

Kosovo is advancing several economic and structural initiatives focused on trade, energy, and regional integration. A Free Trade Agreement between Kosovo and EFTA member states (Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein) has entered into force, aiming to boost exports and provide industrial products with duty-free access to a market of approximately 30 million people.

In the energy sector, Minister Artane Rizvanolli highlighted Kosovo’s growing attractiveness for green energy investments, noting progress in solar and wind energy through tenders and energy efficiency subsidies for households. Meanwhile, Minister Mimoza Kusari-Lila discussed the importance of regional economic integration during the Berlin Process, emphasizing the need for concrete results such as reduced non-tariff barriers and digital integration.

To support business standards, Kosovo is collaborating with the World Bank and IFC on a regional project to advance corporate governance standards. Additionally, discussions regarding climate change in agriculture have called for a national action plan and increased coordination to help farmers adapt to environmental shifts. In the realm of cybersecurity, industry leaders are preparing for the IPKO Cyber Security Conference to address digital infrastructure protection and the impact of artificial intelligence.
