Kosovo Ministry of Education confirms school year starts September 1
The Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation has confirmed that the 2026/2027 school year will begin on September 1. This official announcement aims to clarify recent unofficial reports suggesting a potential delay in the start of classes.
Besnik Dragusha, head of the Kosovo Parents' Council, noted that confusion may have stemmed from Albania's school calendar, which begins on September 14. While schools undergoing renovations might experience minor, one-day delays, the general start date remains unchanged.
The Ministry has also advised parents to wait before purchasing textbooks, as price negotiations with publishing houses are still ongoing. Once finalized, the Ministry will publish a definitive catalog with prices and the required amounts for each student. Bookstores have also been urged not to begin sales until official procedures are completed.
