Kosovo Ministry reports 123,000 parents apply for textbook subsidy

The Ministry of Education in Kosovo says more than 123,000 parents and legal guardians have applied for subsidies covering textbooks and other school materials for primary and lower secondary pupils. The applications, totalling 123,829 as of 3 August, are being processed without any reported technical problems.

The application window remains open until 9 August 2026, and the ministry is still calculating the total amount of funding to be allocated. For the first time, children of foreign citizens holding temporary or permanent residence permits in Kosovo are eligible to receive the subsidy. Anita Kadriu, director of the Department for Pre‑University Education, confirmed that the ministry is now gathering the names of school coordinators to verify all submissions.
