Kosovo municipalities prepare for 2026/27 school year

Educational authorities in Kosovo have announced readiness for the start of the 2026/2027 school year on September 1. In Gjilan, Director of Education Jeton Rexhepi expressed confidence in the preparations made by the Municipal Directorate of Education (DKA) to ensure a successful start for students and staff.

However, in Prizren, Director of Education Luljeta Veselaj Gutaj raised concerns regarding a recurring shortage of essential school and curricular documentation from the Ministry of Education and Science. She noted that the lack of items such as Class Diaries and other management formats forces schools to use personal notebooks, which may lead to delays in archiving and reporting.

Veselaj Gutaj also highlighted a lack of documentation for non-majority communities, describing the situation as “destructive” and suggesting it stems from either incompetence or an agenda to damage the educational system.
