Kosovo officials urge early breast cancer screening

During Pink October, a month dedicated to breast cancer awareness, Kosovo officials are emphasizing the importance of early detection. Data indicates that in 2025, 53.4% of women with breast cancer in Kosovo were diagnosed in the first or second stages of the disease.

Acting President Albulena Haxhiu and Minister of Health Arben Vitia distributed oncology packages to women battling the disease as a sign of institutional support and solidarity. Haxhiu urged women not to delay medical check-ups, noting that mammographies are available free of charge.

Mirjeta Durmishi, a political advisor to the Minister of Health, also issued a call to action, advising women not to postpone health screenings. She highlighted that early detection can save lives and encouraged women to prioritize their health for themselves and their families.
