Kosovo Police seize AK-47 and other weapons following family celebration shootings

Kosovo Police reported multiple incidents of unauthorized weapon possession and gunfire during family celebrations within a 24-hour period.

In Podujeva, two separate incidents occurred involving gunfire at family gatherings. One individual was arrested in Bajram Metolli after allegedly firing a TT-type pistol, which was found to be licensed. Shortly after, another person was arrested in the village of Obrançë after allegedly firing an AK-47 automatic rifle. Both suspects were released following prosecutor decisions, though investigations continue.

In Mitrovica, police arrested a suspect for unauthorized possession and use of a weapon, seizing an AK-47. Unlike the Podujeva suspects, this individual was sent to detention. Other seizures included a licensed weapon and ammunition in Peja during a vehicle check, and a weapon used in a threat in Vushtrri, which resulted in an arrest and detention.
