Kosovo police seize illegal weapons and arrest officers in corruption probe

Kosovo police acted on a tip about a resident of Leposaviq suspected of owning illegal arms. Searches in Leposaviq and Vushtrri led to the seizure of a flag bearing the slogan “Kosovo je Serbia”, two smoke bombs, a gas pistol with a cartridge, an AK‑47 rifle and a loaded 30‑round magazine. The suspect, identified only by the initials A.A., was interviewed and released pending further procedure, while the prosecutor has opened a criminal case for unauthorized possession of weapons.

In a separate internal investigation, the Kosovo Police Internal Affairs Directorate (IPK) reported that nine officers were arrested during the first half of 2026 and that more than 100 police personnel are under investigation for offenses including abuse of office, robbery, domestic violence, sexual harassment and weapons violations. The agency disclosed dozens of criminal complaints, special reports and informational briefs filed with the state prosecutor, and highlighted the most common offenses such as mistreatment in official duties and abuse of authority.
