U.S. active-duty troops resume KFOR command in Kosovo

Colonel Jabari Miller has assumed command of the KFOR Multinational Brigade in the East, marking a significant shift in the peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. Active-duty U.S. troops have returned to lead this command for the first time since September 2014, taking over from the 53rd Infantry Brigade of the Florida National Guard.

The command transition took place during a ceremony at Camp Bondsteel. The new leadership, consisting of elements from the 2nd Cavalry Regiment and support units from the 1st Infantry Division based in Germany, replaces the National Guard units that previously held the position.

According to command spokesperson Hunter Tate, the leadership change was driven by current mission requirements and force availability. Colonel Miller stated that the U.S. soldiers are highly trained and motivated to work alongside NATO allies and partners to maintain a secure and stable environment within Kosovo.
