Morina border crossing sees high tourist influx from Kosovo
A significant influx of travelers from Kosovo has been recorded at the Morina border crossing as citizens head toward the Albanian coast for the final weekend of the August holiday season.
Border authorities reported peak traffic between 5:00 AM and 7:00 AM. To facilitate movement, border police are utilizing an expedited procedure that allows vehicles with Kosovo and Albanian license plates to pass without standard border controls. This measure remains in effect until September 30 as part of an intergovernmental agreement.
The surge is partly driven by the upcoming start of the new school year in Kosovo on September 1, whereas the school year in Albania begins later. Data from the last 24 hours shows 52,864 citizens and 13,531 vehicles entering Albania, while 35,072 citizens and 11,238 vehicles exited. Over the five-day period from August 24 to August 28, approximately 152,694 citizens entered Albania.
