Kosovo recalls Serbian dairy cow concentrate due to aflatoxin
The Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV) has ordered the market recall of “SELECT MILK GR” dairy cow concentrate produced by DE HEUS D. O. O. in Serbia. The recall follows the confirmation of Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) levels exceeding the maximum permitted limits. The product was imported into Kosovo by N. P. T. “Haxhijaha” SH. P. K. based in Rahovec.
Specific affected batches include LOTs 0385010426007 and 0385020426001. Authorities have ordered the isolation of remaining bags and the tracing of the product's distribution to operators and farms. Farmers and distributors are urged not to use or circulate these specific lots.
In response, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development Armend Muja has implemented a 30-day temporary preventive ban on the import of corn-based concentrates and mixtures for dairy cows and calves originating from or produced in Serbia. During this period, AUV will conduct a documented risk assessment based on laboratory results and official controls to determine further measures. Additionally, inspections for AFB1 in corn and corn-based animal feed have been intensified.
