Kosovo Specialist Chambers appeal deadline set for November 27
The legal proceedings for four former KLA leaders—Hashim Thaç, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, and Rexhep Selimi—have entered the appeal preparation phase following their September 16 judgment.
The deadline for the parties to announce whether they will contest the first-instance verdict has been extended to November 27. This extension was granted by the Appeals Panel following a request from the defense, citing the complexity of the case and the fact that defense teams had not yet received the translated Albanian version of the judgment.
The Specialist Chambers noted that the formal appeal process begins with the submission of an appeal notice. The Appeals Panel has the authority to review appeals based on alleged errors in law, facts, or sentencing. The panel may uphold, overturn, or amend the first-instance judgment, and in certain circumstances, order a retrial.
